The August 2018 Alumni TIES seminar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the theme of "Strengthening Environments for Civic and Public Engagement," inspired the Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp.

The opening ceremony of the Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp launched on March 1, 2019 at the American Cultural Center.
