The University of Maryland's Center for Entrepreneurship is known for its support of entrepreneurship and innovation in the US, but it's now looking to expand its reach into Africa.
The center, known as UM6P, has teamed up with AfriLabs, the largest network of technology and innovation hubs in Africa, to support startups in the continent's startup ecosystem, the Washington Post reports.
"AfriLabs, the largest network of technology and innovation hubs across Africa, and UM6P Ventures will collaborate on several key initiatives aimed at advancing scientific innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa," says a press release.
Under the partnership, UM6P will provide mentorship and access to AfriLabs' network of innovation hubs in 53 African countries, as well as help startups find funding and other support.
"We are poised to tackle significantly distinct challenges faced by our communities and contribute to sustainable economic growth in Africa," says the CEO of AfriLabs Ventures.
