Salesforce.com has signed a deal to buy 280,000 hours of clean power from renewable energy projects in Brazil, India, Southeast Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa over the next eight years, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The company says the deal, which was announced Tuesday, is part of a larger effort to create more women- and climate-friendly jobs in developing countries.
According to the Guardian, the company says the projects it is buying will produce enough energy to power 850,000 homes.
The company says the projects are being developed by British Columbia-based Powertrust and will deliver on its mission of universal energy access and gender equality.
