Lessons from the Swedish Innovation Ecosystem

Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata Jnr., a multi-award winning media professional in Nigeria, writes about being invited across the globe for a five-day working visit by the Swedish Institute.

He shares his experiences about learning from other countries that have advanced technology and innovation to develop their economies.

Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata Jnr. laments that the country is in badly need to "get stuff done" in an era, where technology is threatening its primary means of income, oil, plus rapidly re-writing the rules of communication, commerce and trade.

His piece does not intend to compare Nigeria with Sweden, but he wants to point out what Nigerians can learn about a country that treats its startup ecosystem very seriously.

He notes that Sweden operates a model that enables the government to focus on collaboration, rather than trying to invest in developing programmes and resources that might not be managed properly.

Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata Jnr. puts it, "reality stares Nigeria in the face and I will sum it up as follows 'Innovate or Suffer.'" Read the Entire Article
