Officials from the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina stated that they have provided $685,000 to 37 non-profit organizations led and/or served by blacks in the three-county area to support innovation, creativity and fostering increased resilience is in the black community.

Facebook chose the Coastal Community Foundation to provide this opportunity because it intends to promote racial equality in coastal South Carolina through scholarships, grants, advocacy and internal practices, officials said.

According to the foundation, the $1 million Facebook grant also supports four specific initiatives designed to provide more opportunities for black communities and their leaders:

Meticulon, a project of Autism Calgary Association in partnership with the federal government and the Sinneave Family Foundation, operates as a social enterprise that renders high-tech services provided by people with autism, leveraging their natural abilities at requiring attention to detail, repetition, and sequencing.
