The companies, Aspiration and Compassionate Carbon, say they'll work together to create hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of "high-quality nature-based carbon removal credits" from tree restoration projects around the world.
"This crucial partnership will educate, support, and ultimately drive positive climate action with the largest organizations in the world that want to take action and invest in high-quality carbon removal programs with verifiable and lasting co-benefits to local communities and the environment," Bryan Adkins, CEO of Eden Reforestation Projects, says in a press release.
The restoration projects are expected to remove up to 300 million metric tons of carbon from the atmosphere by the end of the next decade, per the Times, which notes that carbon dioxide is the chief greenhouse gas blamed for climate change.
